World Champion launches campaign to Knock Out Pediatric Cancer.

Two-time Heavyweight Champion of the World and kitchen appliance tycoon, “Big” George Foreman is strapping on the gloves one more time. The Champ is joining the “Fight for Life.”

The Houston based celebrity and minister has announced his plans to “Keep Punching” until a cure for cancer is found.

“Texan’s recently proclaimed to the world that we are committed to finding the cure (reference: Prop. 15 passed 11/6/07). I plan to give this state-wide effort a little more punch,” says Foreman.

The former boxing champion is a member of The University Cancer Foundation Board of Visitors at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.

“I have had a personal experience with pediatric cancer,” says Foreman. “This is about much more than donating money. This is the fight for life. These kids have to know that we are in their corner and believe that they will win. They deserve a cure.”

The charity was borne of a chance meeting with Texas musician and fellow pediatric cancer philanthropist, Rhett Butler.

“My sister , Amy and George’s daughter, Michi were best friends in high school,” says Butler. “We ran into him at a restaurant in Houston last December. From the moment he told my little brother, Ashley (a 26-year pediatric brain tumor survivor) to ‘Keep Punching', I knew that we were destined to work together.”

“We are in the planning stages for many different types of events to utilize Mr. Foreman’s celebrity and reputation to benefit children with cancer,” says Butler. “The sky is the limit.”

Knock Out Pediatric Cancer’s first fund-raising project is the compilation CD, “Keep Punching.” The disc features some of the region’s most renowned musicians including; Eric Johnson, Sara Hickman, Terri Hendrix and others. The CD is a token gift for a donation of $20. All of the net proceeds raised from the CD will be channeled to fund pediatric cancer research.

“God has blessed me with the means and the opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of sick children,” says Foreman. “So, I’m coming back for these kids, and I’m gonna ‘Keep Punching’ until we Knock Out Pediatric Cancer ”
